I’ve been learning HTML, CSS, and a little jQuery for the past couple of days through Free Code Camp and so far the exercises are a lot of fun. Who wouldn’t like making a mock “Cat Photo App” while learning code? The real challenge is working on my first test: writing code for a tribute web page.
Sounds easy enough. They give you an example, but you can’t look at the source code for it. It took me a long time to find the right codes I wanted to implement and I thought I’d be lost, but I’ve really surprised myself. I actually wrote something that turned into a recognizable web page! And it functions like it’s supposed to! My links open in new windows, the colors, fonts, and pictures are exactly where I want them! SUCCESS! It really is a good feeling when you take a look at something you’ve done and it doesn’t look half bad. I still have some minor adjustments to make to the actual text, but overall I’m pretty excited. So when I get to the final revision and have it ready to turn in for my test I’ll try to post a link here. If anyone wants to take a look at it and see what they think, feel free to give me feedback! It’s most likely a mess, but hey, it works and it will adjust itself to fit whatever screen you’re using!
